The USSS Uniformed Division Riders is having a 'Bike Night' at Tesoro's
Restaurant, in DC on April 11, 2008
D.C. USSS OFFICER FUNDRAISER
Officer Steve Lillis, a member of the Uniformed Division has been hospitalized
since January 16th due to an undetermined illness. Officer Lillis started
having seizures during a POTUS trip to the U.A.E., where he was medically
induced into a coma at a hospital in Dubai. He remained there until about
two weeks ago, until he was able to be transported back to the states,
and Johns Hopkins University. Steve has suffered repeated seizures, as
well as massive brain swelling; which prevented him from simple motor skills
and recognition.
As of this date, he has made some improvement. He does have some motor function back and can recognize his family, by facial expressions; but he's in for a long fight. And the doctors still have no cause. Yellow Fever and Smallpox vaccinations have been ruled out. He will be moved to a hospital in upstate New York that specializes in Head Trauma cases, and will be closer to his family's residence there.
While the Service has donated and raised money to help the Lillis family,
they are still in for a long fight. The family has had to cover flight
and hotel costs to get to Dubai, as well as his stay in Baltimore. So to
help, the UD Riders are raffling items off at the "Bike Night"
